Cee: This was the final track we wrote and recorded for the project, and pretty clearly it was the most sonically different. MaD is on that jazz tip heavy; I dig that stuff, though this project wasn't really on that vibe. However, the way he flipped the sample and threw in the funky ass bassline really helped make room for it. MaD had an idea to do a track where we both rap, in French and English, about our various difficulties with language in Montreal. It was inspired by a track by French rap group Hocus Pocus, and we wrote and recorded it in a couple hours at the lab not long before we released it. MaD killed his verses, it was dope to get him on the mic, however briefly. I hope we did them justice. And thank y'all for listening :)
lyrics
[Intro: Dr. MaD]
[Verse 1]
[Dr. MaD]
Le soul-jazz m’amène la paix refrè,
Si c’était à refaire, y’a que le refrain que je changerai,
J’ai médité sur la question, conclusion, la voici,
Yo Cee!
[Cee] What it does?
Oubli Shakespeare et puis écoute ceci
[Cee]
What's good? Ça va, homie? Man this city stay confusing, kid,
On the STM it's 'bienvenue', pas 'de rien',
Folks is hungry so 'la bouffe' on the menu,
Laughing coz 'devoir' be the burden when you in school
[Dr. MaD]
[Cee]
OK so many vowel sounds, accents and compounds,
Add the Québécois joualle and dog, I'm out, wow,
Man the curse words is coming from church words,
Oui de tabarnak de calice, the shit I learned first
[Hook: Cee & Dr. MaD]
Shit we ain't finna lead y'all on,
All we sayin' is the joint c'est vraiment bon, uh
Shit we ain't finna lead y'all on,
All we sayin' is the joint c'est vraiment bon
[Bridge]
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Verse 2]
[Dr. MaD]
I'm finding if I try, then les gens sont gentil and they smiling back,
But then they talking so fast and dog I can't understand,
So I'm snatching my bags and dippin' to class
[Dr. MaD]
[Cee]
When I wanna speak French man, they switch it on me,
And when I'm not in the mood, it's like they English foreign territory,
Right MaD?
[Dr. MaD] Quoi?
Yo we hardly done,
Hashtag CVB, bruh, it's all I know
[Hook: Cee & Dr. MaD]
Shit we ain't finna lead y'all on,
All we sayin' is the joint c'est vraiment bon, uh
Shit we ain't finna lead y'all on,
All we sayin' is the joint c'est vraiment bon
[Bridge]
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
[Dr. MaD] C'est vraiment bon
[Cee] C'est vraiment bon
