I copped this from the homie Stylaz in like 2004 to be honest. He hates it now lol, but to me, this is the epitome of how a soul beat should sound. I got Chaundon of Hall of Justus on the joint - he was the first international feature I ever worked with, which was super exciting for me. Bekah's vocals were actually just a rough to show Chaundon at the time but we ended up keeping them and bam, we have a rap song.
lyrics
[Intro: Cee]
1, 2, 3, 4 let’s go
Yeah, what it does? Big Cee
It’s a work in progress, nahmean?
Listen
[Hook: Bekah]
Do ya hear me?
I am really hearing you
Do ya hear me?
I am hearing you
[Verse 1: Cee]
OK, ‘Get Back’ like LB, I got it, what you wanting from me?
It’s raw soul, kinda more than what you thought it could be,
And we here, it's the LP, nothin’ short of obscene,
When Bekah and Big Cee link with Chaun of the League,
And it's on yup, the Movement been at it,
We solidified the Fam and now it's time to expand to new pastures,
Dog I’ma rep, crew nothin’ less, homie we the best,
From Melbourne to BX, man the stage is set,
We connecting with the heads to the public and,
The underground is popping but the mainstream, they lovin’ it,
And when the industry discovers us,
We ain't needin’ nothin’ but the publishing, fanbase we covered it,
Damn man, we up in this, ya heard the name now,
We Superbad with it, that's word to James Brown,
Bekah ,can ya hear me? The chorus is callin’,
And we be only warming up so y'all just oughta get on it, now do ya…
[Hook: Bekah]
Do ya hear me?
Do you really hear me?
Do ya hear me?
Do ya hear me?
Do ya hear me?
Do you really hear me?
[Verse 2: Chaundon]
Listen to me, I hold it down with Bekah and Cee,
Alumni flow, y’all first semester MCs,
Undergrads wanna test me, please,
Look, I studied abroad, thermometers can’t even reach my degrees,
When I was young, I used to roam with a backpack,
Book full of rhymes and ambition, and noone can match that,
If you had the crown, I would snatch that,
Along with the crowd and a fistful of dollars if you bet that,
Know y’all hear me, dude spit clearly,
Known to outshine anyone who stand near me,
Step in the arena, fans cheer me,
Step into a cipher, drop a 16 and y’all feel me,
Walked through the door with Little Brother,
Now my name spans across the US into Down Under,
Bekah, can you hear me? Bring back the hook,
Signing off, Chaundon, I’m getting money off the books, uh
[Hook: Bekah]
Do ya hear me?
Do you really hear me?
Do ya hear me?
Do ya hear me?
Do ya hear me?
Do you really hear me?
