about

Cee: D-Shade is a Montreal legend. Like when I first took some homies from here to HHK (Hip Hop Karaoke MTL), they were like 'Oh shit, is that D-Shade hosting??' People would bug out. Plus he was a great dude, really easy to work with, so it was only right we connected. It was dope to see him in the studio - he takes his time with his shit, he's not tryina be on some Jay-Z one-take nonsense. This was the second track we did together, and I really love how we go back and forth and really make it a collaborative effort, rather than D just emailing me a verse - it truly makes the tune special.

lyrics

[Intro: D-Shade]
Yeah son, ah yeah we doin' it again
Yeah, Big Shade and Cee, like we doin' it for TV, yeah

[Verse 1: D-Shade]
What it do fam? Woke up feeling like a new man,
'Bout to bring fresh produce straight to your fruit stand,
Hit the booth, speak the truth to the youth man,
Might gotta son 'em like when Vader cut off Luke's hand,
Birds go stupid for some booze and a few grand,
Hotel rooms, couple Qs of that Subban,
Shout out to my man that used to hustle out his cube van,
Says life's better now, got a few moves planned,
Cool, man! I wish you all the best,
Don't get caught up in the mess, keep them haters off the steps,
I'm fresh, like ink in a money press,
Not havin' no money is what gettin' Money stressed,
Get paid what you're worth, accept nothin' less,
Look at how they test you when you get a little success,
I admit it would suck less,
If I was sittin' on a million in Brazil watchin' the sun set

[Bridge]
[Cee] How you feel, homes?
[D-Shade] Yeah I feel good
[D-Shade] How you livin', dog?
[Cee] Yeah I'm still hood
[Cee] On the grind, still
[D-Shade] Bruh, I feel you
[D-Shade] That's real talk
[Cee & D-Shade] Keep pushing, 'til we get through

[D-Shade] How you feel, homes?
[Cee] Yeah I feel good
[Cee] How you livin', dog?
[D-Shade] Yeah I'm still hood
[D-Shade] On the grind, still
[Cee] Bruh, I feel you
[Cee] That's real talk, homeboy
[Cee & D-Shade] Keep pushing, 'til we get through

[Hook]
[Cee]
We don't work just for perks and some new things,
We pushing music to you, tryina make your mood swing,
'Bout to step game up, new routine,
Welcome to the city, let me show you how we do things

[D-Shade]
We don't work just for perks and some new things,
We pushing music to you, tryina make your mood swing,
'Bout to step game up, new routine,
Welcome to the city, let me show you how we do things

[Verse 2: Cee]
What it does y'all? I done come forth,
On my grand hustle homie, tryina set the buzz off,
With a plan to get the fuckin' east coast raw,
Making it impossible to front up on the young boy,
Ah, and only now that I have persevered,
I see the beauty in the grind that I done engineered,
Shit is moving forward
It's kinda slow, but I'm witnessing the growth and something's better than not at all,
Yeah, Mr. Tri-City Representer,
MEL, T-Dot, MTL connected,
I just wanna build together so we moving units,
The funny thing is it'll take a foreigner to do it,
Yo we fucking with pioneers, we higher here,
Dipping from a system where the shit ain't even kinda fair,
So y'all are finna see us shinin' like a diamond glare,
Sign on the horizon that it's time and dog we never scared, yeah

[Hook]

Welcome to the city, let me show you how we do things
