about

Cee: The first time I properly linked with MaD outside of HHK was at a Second Cup on Parc Ave, and he played me this beat. Straight away I was like 'Single!' We both wanted to get Green Hypnotic (from MaD's Alaiz crew) on the project, so I reached out and offered him a choice between this beat and what became 'Dear Life'. I wrote my verses and the hook, sent it to Green, he laced it and we had another jam. I tried to speak on the music side of things, and what I like to call 'truth' (some call it 'conspiracy'). I like to be mad honest and blunt in my music, but I found it can scare some people away. So I make sure that instead of making full on political rant tracks, I pepper my projects with information to spark questions and independent research.

lyrics

[Intro: Cee]
Uh, yeah, it's Big Cee, with MaD and Prince Green, yeah
TMF bitch! Let's get it

[Verse 1: Cee]
Ah but don't you know, I came a long way to be here,
30,000 feet above seas yeah, a visa and a dream with,
A team who never speak shit, we saying it, you seeing it,
Me? Dog I'm eating but there's goals that I ain't reach yet,
Yeah, and I've been striving forth with a driving force,
Boring nights and a normal life, that's something I ain't have an option for,
I've had this feeling since I was a kid,
That I have been destined for something great and this music shit, it be paving the way,
And man it's working now, and damn they turning out,
And this shit is for everyone who ever told me 'Turn it down'
I think that proving everybody wrong,
Is giving me a similar buzz to what is does when I pen a song,
That's kinda crazy, right?,
Whatever, fuck it, man the only way to make it is persistence and the tunes is tight,
And now I'm seeing how the hustle paying off,
It's a struggle but it's worth it when the Movement going north, what's good?

[Hook: Cee]
Nah I wasn't aware,
And that ain't even an excuse this year, I'm screamin' (don't you know),
Yeah, you needin' knowledge, we got it,
Though I'm rappin' for profit, we got love so there's heart in the sonics it's like

Dog I'm staying aware,
There's a message in the music here, I'm sayin' (don't you know),
Yeah, you needin' product, we got it,
Hear the truth in your pocket, we stays real, no avoiding the topic, it's like

[Verse 2: Cee]
Yeah, yeah and don't you know, we came a long way to be here,
A couple hundred thousand odd years and still we treated like we sheep and,
Man it's kinda our fault, we let 'em do it to us,
Centralise the power, that is the few is movin',
The system is flawed, capitalism packin' the prisons,
While hemp is illegal, we dying with Prozac in our system,
And GMOs be in our homes,
Coz Monsanto owning patents to the seeds they clone,
Yo organic ain't affordable, they killing us slow,
So we forced to eat the poison that we get in store,
Be aware, that's the hardest part,
The information that we having ain't reflecting the reality, so fuck is up?
Yeah, and we was taught to never question shit,
And half my friends, they think I'm crazy just for saying this,
But something don't add up,
And I can feel it in my soul that shit is wrong, so the time's on us, it's like

[Verse 3: Green Hypnotic]
Don't you know, Prince Green been puttin' work for years,
Wasn't for me, a lot of y'all wouldn't have careers,
No arrogance, I'm just being modest round here,
These rappers are frontin', don't be so naïve around here,
I'ma tell you what a G told me,
Make sure to keep it a milli and stay low key,
Never mix biz with homies, keep it M-O-E,
No comfort zone, that's how you get fooled my G,
I was, raised in the church, influenced by the street life,
Papa was an asshole, I had to live my own life,
Analyzing rappers, I wanted to live the fast life,
Skipped my 9 to 5 and decided to write,
My own reality, I always been a visionary,
The plans the same, making history with my own story,
Sheesh, don't you know,
Went from being the underdog to the prince of my city, what's the dealio?
